The words came to my mind this morning,
“go the extra mile.”
I looked up in the Bible to see what I
could find concerning this. In St.
Matthew 5 tells us if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away your coat; let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever
shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twin. In verse 43 it is talking of loving your neighbor and hating your enemies
but Jesus said, love your enemies, and bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you.
In order for us to become as the Lord would
have us to be and do as the heavenly Father does this is a matter that has got to be addressed.
I have heard many say, "well they deserve
what they are going through due to sin in their life", this sounds to me as if many have set their self up as judge and have
decided to pay no mind to this passage of scripture telling us to go the extra mile.
Perhaps if the people would get their minds
off of their own self and stop hording up everything that they can, holding back from those that have a need, maybe the souls
that are lost would be saved.
Many do not care as to what is happening
to this World, many are thinking on leaving this world with no concern for those that are lost and will be left behind.
How so very selfish has the people of God
become?
There will be a time when we all will stand
before the Lord and will have to give an account as too what we did for the lost and we are going to be judged for what we
did and did not do.
The play day will be over and mankind will
stand before the Lord and will be ask what have you done?
Loving the loveable is of no task. This
does not prove a thing to the Lord. He is tells us here that even though we are hated we have no excuse to treat people as
they treat us.
Going the extra for others, takes some
true dedication to the will of the Lord. But then after all He went more than an extra for us, He gave His very life for all
of mankind.
What is it about people that feel as if
they do not have to follow the teachings of the Lord, why is it that many passages of scriptures are being sweet under a rug?
The truth is plain, the reason so many
are not doing as the Bible tells us to do is many think they are getting away with theses kinds of actions. But read on and
find out what the Bible tells us that is going to happen to many that will stand before the Lord , telling him of all the
works that they did , many are going to be turned away even though they have their little list of things they have done.
Search the scriptures; find out what the
Lord expects out of each of us. Do not set around waiting on someone to hand feed you with the word, read it yourself. Pastors
and teachers are not the only ones that are suppose to be studying the word of God; it is up to each of us to know the mind
of God and do His will.
Are we willing to go the extra mile?
